Side effects can occur during or shortly after radiation treatment or in the months and years following radiation.

A dose responsive relation has been observed with local control increasing to 90 with higher doses however it is associated with significant toxicity.

Side effects can be severe however leading to pain alterations in normal body functions for example urinary or salivary function deterioration of quality of life permanent injury and even death. Possible side effects could include but are not limited to. Despite receiving a dose similar to brachytherapy long term urinary effects are not common and rectal injury is rare.

Some of the most common side effects of cyberknife include. Other early side effects usually are related to the area being treated such as hair loss and mouth problems when radiation treatment is given to this area. The potential side effects of cyberknife depend on the type of cancer being treated the amount of radiation required and the location of the radiation treatment and they can range between everything from minor skin irritation to serious injury or even death. Late side effects can take months or even years to develop.

Possible side effects could include but not limited to. Long term side effects typically start 6 months or later after the radiation and are due to scarring and fibrosis. The most common early side effects are fatigue feeling tired and skin changes. Fatigue breathing difficulties cough hemoptysis coughing up blood radiation pneumonitis radiation fibrosis complications such as pneumothorax resulting from fiducial marker insertion exposure to airways and or nearby tissue.

Side effects from radiation can be subdivided into short term and long term. Side effects can be severe however leading to pain alterations in normal body functions for example urinary or salivary function deterioration of quality of life permanent injury and even death. Possible side effects could include but are not limited to. 20 30 patients develop erectile dysfunction.

Most side effects of radiotherapy including radiotherapy delivered with accuray systems are mild and temporary often involving fatigue nausea and skin irritation.
